Tech at Tamaki college- Metal work
Tech at Tamaki College was great. In Metal work the Yr 8B were up to polishing their handles and are now starting to work on their base. I am now polishing my handle and using rough sand paper to erase the marks from off of my design. I'm am proud of myself because I have almost complete my handle. I like to thank Mr Nika for helping me with my design.

Blog Post Data Analysis
In Maths I created a blog post analysis showing the average and amount of blog post that I have posted. What I found interesting about my analysis was that in 2017 I posted 174 blog posts which was my highest amount in one year. I have written an explanation about my blogging analysis. My goal was to reach 800 blog posts by the end of this year so I have to post 4 blog posts each week to achieve this.

Stretching sentences
In Writing I have been learning how to stretch my sentences using the 5wś and H.
This helps to make my sentences more detailed and interesting. I´ve created a DLO to explain how to stretch my sentences using who, what, when, where, why and how.
I also created my own example to show an Adverb and noun in my sentences.
This DLO will talk about how to add an adverb or noun and where to put the 5wś and H.
I need to work on adding vocabulary in my sentences.

The Conquences of Making bad choices
In the first block we were visited from constable Cyrus who came in to talk about the dare program. The DARE program is program that teaches younger students about drugs and how it can affect the way you act. We learnt a lot about how drugs can affect the way we act. This is an important message because 120 new Zealanders die because of taking drugs/ someone else. I created this DLO to show the many life affects about drugs. I have an information poster linking to all of the drugs that can affect you.

Boy on Bike- DLO
In Reading Sakina, Karlos, Giovanni, Jonathan, Villiami, Te pounamu, Jaydon, Chavda, Alice and I have been reading an article called Boy on a Bike. It is based on a boy named Mac who rides around New Zealand on a bike fund raising for St Johns. He has traveled from Cape reinga all the way down to Wellington. For completing this tour he has fundraised $7,000 for new ambulances and support for St Johns.
This DLO includes all of the information about Boy on Bike. This describes that places that he has journeyed to. He has only journeyed the north island but is hoping to travel the south island. I have located the main places that he has started from and ended. The places that he has journeyed to are on the list of places traveled. This DLO also shows how many distances he has traveled. The distance is 1,300 km which took him 11 hours to complete the process. The elevation chart shows the limited km that he has traveled above sea level.
The interesting facts show some extra piece of information about Mac.

Caring for Planet Earth
Why is Plastic harmful to the environment(what could we do to stop it)
Well did you ever think that plastic bags were good for using at countdown or any type of shop. Did you know that nearly every single year plastic gets thrown away which is then dumped in a landfill.
Plastic is spreading around in the world's oceans it's causing animals too choke or Die and even coral reefs which fish feed off for protein. But what if there was no coral then there wouldn't be a Marine life. This is what plastic bags cause when they flow into our environment. Now, people are starting to change their ways by using reusable bags for shopping or an occasion. Plastic makes a big impact on earth which is pollution. Pollution is what makes our earth dirty. Plastic can be effective too animals often sea creatures and all. If plastic enters a sea creatures body it will end up in our food chain which causes sickness like a disease. Plastic is mostly on land but some plastic bags end up in our ocean. Plastic could also be reusable when it has still been used for shopping. This makes life better when people use plastic bags over and over again. Many people are not thinking about what they are doing when they thrown away plastic bags or plastic items.
It is important that plastic does not get thrown away each day because it causes these kind of problems. The main problem about this is that sea turtles are often the ones who get caught in plastic. Sea turtles think that plastic looks like a jellyfish but it really is plastic which kind of destroys their immune system which causes an environmental problem. The main question is why is plastic harmful to the planet it's because it takes over our food and our creatures that live on this planet. Without changing our ways and actions we wouldn't have a healthy life without eating all of the nutritious foods that we need to survive. (So what could we do to stop this) We can start using reusable bags like cotton made bags from countdown or Pak N Save (Optional) We can use the plastic bags every time we go shopping.

After writing my writing sample I looked at the writing rubric to help me find if I am at stage 5 or 6. I used the self and buddy evaluation to help me find my level of using punctuation, vocab, organisation, sentence structure, sentence of language and ideas. My partner was Nidhi we worked collaboratively on each others writing example.
We each rated our Writing samples stage 1 to stage 6. We gave each others opinions on what we thought we improved and what we need to work on. Self check I thought I used Punctuation and specific words in my Explanation. Partner check my partner gave me and R5 because I hooked the reader in with an interesting explanation. What I need to work is my sentence structure and Ideas.

Kiwi Sport
In the first block, We had 15 minutes of read theory, This was a great time to work on answering the questions and looking back at the text. The first text that I read was More than just trash. It was an interesting story to read. This story was about how to make Items out of trash and all of these ingredients can be found in your house. This was based on making stuff out of cardboard. The most interesting part out of this article was how to make a Basket ball hoop from Cardboard. I really enjoyed reading this text, Something that I need to work on is reading the text carefully so that I can find the answer to the questions.

Today in Tech the year 8's were filing there designs at Metal work. What we did was we filed the edges and sides to make it flat. The year 7's were creating there designs and year 8A were learning the basics of art. Everyone worked very hard to get there bottom piece done before doing the final design for this assessment. Many of us had to catch up with our filing piece. Everyone was actively listening to Mr Nika.
