Market Day Evaluation

On Friday Afternoon, LS2 sold  a range of 99 rainbow crayons, that were molded into different types of shapes. Instead of  just melting a single color of crayons. We melted color crayons that would go well together. We used the digital color wheel to help us find the colors opposite each other. For example, Green and Red. Some of our coloured crayons were melted in several colors from black, pink and white. We made different types of crayons, ones that will attract boys and  girls. When it came to market day our whole store sold out leaving us with total cost of $88.00 dollars. So was our Ideas viable, Yes, Because we caught customers attentions which helped us make a profit + We made our price cheap of just $1.00 dollar. Our Net profit was $96.00, the costs were $8.00 minice 96-8 gives us 88. We made an impressive amount of money + instead of just paying cash we exchanged tokens to buy the item.

WW1 transport DLO

This week Matthew, Viliami, Nidhi, I worked together creating this DLO. This DLO tells us about the troopship or transport ship that was used in World War one. While reaching about these information we have found out a lot of interesting facts. All of us worked collaboratively to gathering these information. Making this DLO was a lot of fun and we have learnt a lot of things.

7 continents pf the world DLO

In Inquiry we have been focusing about the continents of the world this relates to General knowledge. During our learning experience about getting to know about the worlds continents Nidhi and I worked collaboratively on a DLO about the 7 continents of the world. We have learnt a lot of new things about these continents including the countries that are home to these 7 continents. Did you know that each continent has its own ocean like Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, North america. We have pulled together a DLO that will explain information about the different continents and the oceans.

Sketch note- Team Challenge

Today Alex, Sakina, Joel and I worked together to create a sketch note on what a team is, our definition of a team is a group of people who work together to achieve a common purpose. In teams all members must respect one another, make sure everyone is included and respect all opinions. Three things that people need to do in teams are: Communicate, collaborate and participate.

Maori battalion Timeline

In Inquiry Marieta, Magenta, Joshua and I have been learning history about the Maori battalion. We have been working collaboratively with each other to find out information about how the Pakeha and Maori fought together on the same side.
This was an interesting topic to learn about but we managed to create a timeline that explains the events that were happening between 1914 and 1918.

WW1 questions DLO

Today I worked collaboratively with Savelina together we created 2 DLO´s that explained questions that we had to answer. We wrote down 10 questions then we chose to do question 2 and question 9. We found that these questions were interesting but also easy. Then we used resource links that will show a variety of information on each of these links. We also found out information that was linked to our topic. We worked really well and got 2 of the DLO´s done. I really enjoyed this activity because it has a lot of history to world war 1.

Armistice Day

In Inquiry this term we have been learning about world war 1. This is a collage to tell a story about the enjoyment after world war 1 had finished. These pictures show how happy people were when the war finished this was called armistice day. It is a day after those who have come back from the war. Learning about the war is an interesting topic to research about. This is also learning about the history of those who went to fight for there country in the great war. World war 1 is called the great war because 135 countries participated in the Alies and central power.  This collage also represents families who are so glad to have there family members back home.  The war started on the 11 month on the 11 hour of the 11 year.

Diagram of a bridges around the world

This Diagram shows the information of the Millau Viaduct. I chose this bridge because it look interesting and I wanted to learn more about it. You can find this bridge destination in France.
I found out that this bridge was made of reinforced concrete which was really interesting to know. It was really interesting to know that this bridge the size of its length was 2,460 m.
I also found out that this bridge spans over gorge valley and that its clearance below is 274m.

Bridge cartoon

In inquiry this term me and Viva have been collaborating with each other brain storming ideas for our story board animation that tells the story of the first bridge and second panmure bridge been built. Before bridges were invented people used to travel across the tamaki river on a punt which was really difficult because sometimes there would be bad weather and other times the punt would flip over. Then in 1865 the first panmure bridge was built out of wood, logs that came from the trunk of the kauri tree. This bridge only lasted for a small period of time and then collapsed into pieces. This is when engineers thought that building a bridge out of wood will not support the bridge because wood was not the type of material that bridge builders wouldn´t normally use anymore. So comparing the busted down bridge they thought that they needed a more stronger material. The next pile of material was concrete that came from Sydney Australia on a ship. This made bridge building a little more complicated because they needed to pay for the bridge. Wants payments went into building/ Constructing the second panmure bridge they needed help to build the bridge. They needed a crane to put down the materials and ships to bring the materials on. Wants the bridge was completed it was opened on the 14th of October 1916 when Prime minister William Massey drove over the bridge with a steam roller.

Venn Diagram of the Panmure bridges- Comparing bridges

Today in Inquiry me and Viva worked collaboratively together to create a diagram comparing materials that engineers used to make the first panmure bridge and the bridge that still exists today.  In our Venn Diagram we included things like materials that were used to build our 2 bridges and similar things that make up the bridge. 2 pictures to show our comperance to the bridge in 1865 and the bridge that still exist today. We manage to find all the details that we needed. One of our facts is what were the piles made from well they were made from reinforced concrete which was built when it was low tied.  What was the first bridge and the bridge that still lives today made of it was really easy to find out what type of material it was made of. The type of material that the panmure bridges were made of was wood and reinforced concrete.

Auckland Harbour bridge research

In Inquiry Me and Chavda have been learning about the Auckland harbour bridge. Lately in inquiry we have been learning about bridges we have been researching why bridges are important and how they are made.
Also why are bridges strong because they are made out of hard material and are built into detailing structures.
We have created a DLO and slideshow to show and compare to the Sydney harbour bridge and also identifying  the Auckland harbour bridge.

The history of the panmure bridge

In Inquiry I created a DLO collage about the first panmure bridge.
I focused on getting  all the information down, also I watched a video to help me find out more information on why they constructed the first panmure bridge.
Because people couldn't get across the water because sometimes there would be a rough weather or sometimes drown when the water was deep.
Once I knew all the information that I needed I created the DLO before I had started I thought of some Ideas to how I was going to put all the info on my DLO.
Then I started to put pictures on to explain the story, I put on the pictures of the panmure bar, Panmure bridge, Panmure transport, and the material that they used to make the panmure bridge.

Sky Tower Trip

Today LS2 went on a trip to visit the sky tower. We got to learn many things especially the history of how it was made and what year it was constructed. When we first arrived at the sky tower I was shocked because the sky tower was so huge.
When we entered the front reception we saw guides who were going to lead our group to the alivator to go up the sky tower. This was amazing  because there was windows that showed a fantastic view which was awesome. This was my first time up in the sky city. When we reached the top we all were handed a pamphlet and a pencil this was an activity for us we had a lot of fun learning new stuff. This year we are learning  about structures and comparing it to our topics this term. What a fantastic trip today everybody enjoyed learning new things and also visiting new places in Auckland city.
I thought this was the best day ever!.

I would like to thank Douglas Bates for funding us the money to go on amazing trip to the sky tower. I will also like to thank Mr Wong Ms Kirkpatrick, Mrs Anderson, Mr Dobson and Ms Linda for looking after us during our trip.

Career DLO- Radiation Oncoligist

Today I created a DLO about my career as being a Radiation Oncologist, I picked this Career because I thought you can do research and studies on human radiation.
This was my time to explore information about my career and how much I would get paid if I worked as a therapist.
I created this DLO to show all my information and why I chose this Career.
I had to write this in a Maori version and a English version.
The first slide will show my description and the next slide will show all the information about my Career as a therapist.

Careers blog post

Today LS2 learnt about 2 things Careers and Jobs we worked individually on a website which requested us questions. We answered 79 questions on the website after that, the website would give us oppositions of jobs and how much you get paid per year.
My career was to become a Radiation Oncologist because the first year you start you get 70$-175$ and the next year you get paid 175$ again to 600$.
I thought this job was a good career for me because you get paid more money.
Everybody participated well in this task and they all chose there careers that they wanted to work for.

Our task was to research about specific lighthouse around New Zealand.
Firstly before we went on with our lighthouses we split into 10 groups.
In each groups there are approximately 5 to 6 students.
Now let’s get on with the working part.
After each groups were given their own lighthouse to research on, they got on working.
The lighthouse that we are working on is called East Cape Lighthouse.

Skeletal Framework

Today In Inquiry Angela, Viva, Chavda, Hajera and I worked collaboratively to create a figure using Play dough and tooth pics. The first Figure we created was a flat person without bones we took pictures of our figure standing up and it falling into a blob.

Our next figure was a person created with bones inside we took the picture of our figure then we took a picture of the bones inside. After taking all the photos we uploaded them to our drive then we went onto a website which  we made our Animated GIFs on. We chose the pictures that we wanted then our GIF was ready.

Did you know a baby has 300 bones at birth and but by the time they are an adult they only have 206?
