Gymnastics blog post
In gymnastics we practised doing the activities at the 3 rotations. This week the rotations included different activities to build up our techniques. At one of the rotations I found doing the dive roll hard because I wasn't that confident at doing the dive roll after the jump. When I go back to gymnastics I am going to work hard be confident and take risks in gymnastics because that way I will start building up my skills.

Collaborative Task, Literacy Task- Topic about The flight to space
In Reading Sandra, Nidhi, Fui and I have been working on a collaborative task to revise back on the 4 stories that we have been reading throughout the weeks. We have created a display for our space wall. Each of us took role of creating a display. Fui took the role at making display about Laika the space dog, Sandra took the role at doing the flags to represent the countries that took part in the space race, Nidhi took the role at creating a display about Neil Armstrong, and I worked on creating a display about Yuri Gagarin.
On the display I have the facts about Yuri Gagarin and what he did for a living. I have also drawn a digital photo of Yuri Gagarin using the google draw tools.
Fact about Yuri Gagarin:
Yuri Gagarin was a famous International cosmonaut(Cosmonaut is a russian member that is trained by a program which is lead by the Soviet Union Space craft crew.)
He was the first Man(Cosmonaut) to Orbit space in just 108 minutes.

My Niuean Culture DLO- Sharing my culture and Identity, CARE AWARDS
Today I presented a DLO about my Niuean culture and why Niuean culture is important to me. I have put all my effort into creating this DLO to share with LS2. In my DLO I explain my Identity about my families history of migrating from Niue to New Zealand. I have explained where my family originated from which is Makefu a village out of the 14 villages that make up Niue. On slide 3 I explained 2 celebrations that Niueans celebrate in Niue and in Auckland. One of Niues most important days is Peniamina day because it is a special annual to remember Niue's first missionary Nukai Peniamina who rests in the village where my family originated from. The 2nd celebration that we celebrate in Niue is our haircutting ceremonies which is a celebration to celebrate Niuean boys for getting their first haircut. This ceremony happens on a Saturday as it is the only off work day. Slide 4 explains our Niuean feast which we eat Tekihi and Uga which are then made into traditional foods for friends and family in Niue. The last slide talks about places that you can visit and view in Niue. These places are stunning view sites that view rock pools and sunsets.

Tech at Tamaki college
Tech at Tamaki college was great the Yr 8B was up to finishing their completed designs. This was our last session for Metal work. Our goal was to get our designs polished and cleaned before we tested them. The Idea was to test our designs on a cake and 2 pizza's to see how the results of the pizza cutter and the cakeserver turned out like. Before testing our designs we started the lesson off by finishing our reports about the design and the finalizing of the design. After our designs were done it was time to test them. We took turns at testing our pizza cutters and cake servers. The test turned out successful, This rotation was fun because I got to learn how to make a pizza cutter and use a drill to drill a hole in the blade of my pizza cutter. A huge thanks to Mr Nika, Mr Dunn, Mr Tom for taking us yr 8B for Metal work.

Experiencing college life at tamaki college
Today at Tech at Tamaki College was great. The Yr 8 students were invited to a day at Tamaki College to experience what college is all about. We learnt about the different rotations that college offers. We got to learn about other students first time at college and how they felt when they started college. Today our first rotation was Maths in Maths our teacher gave us our task which was learning about coordinates.
We played a game called billy bug primary games, This game helps us to learn the direction and number points to find out where something is, How to draw something using points/ dots. I found maths quite fun because it helped me learn a new strategy to find the direction of where to go. The next rotation was Science in science we designed rockets made from dry ice. Dry ice is a type of carbon dioxide gas which we used with water to blast the rockets into the air. When we did a test on our rockets we worked in groups of 4 with Tamaki College students. The first test we did was
testing the dry ice in a glove. The next test was testing a cup of dry ice and water to blow out alighted candle. The next test we did was testing a rocket full of dry ice to make it launch into the air. This process turned out successful so were ready to move onto the next test the second to last test of the science programme. We tested a bottle of dry ice and water to see what will happen. At the bottom of the bottle the water of dry ice started vibrating. The last test was testing a plastic bowl of dry ice and water and using a damped paper towel to make a bubble. This test was amazing because It was a new experience for me and my group to create a experiment made from ice.
Define coordinates: Coordinates is a type of Maths which you use numbers and boxes to find out the direction your going.
Thank you to all the teachers and students for helping us with our rotations.

First up- Summarising DLO
In Reading Giovanni and I have been Collaborating as a pair to create a DLO based on the first up article. In this task we summarized through the article to find 20 important words to sum up a summary using the main idea in the text. What I found interesting in the text was how long he orbited Earth which was 108 minutes. A fact about the article was Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first human being to be launched into space in 1961. He flew in the Vostok 1 space craft.
NZSL- DLO about New Zealand Sign language week
This Term I have been learning about Sign language week which is one of the 4 main languages spoken in New Zealand. During this Assignment I learnt that we have sign language in New Zealand to communicate with the people of the deaf community. To show and explain what sign language is all about i have created a DLO to show information about Sign language in New Zealand. I also have an example of the different signs that we use to communicate with the deaf community.

Kiwi Can term 2
This term in Kiwi Can our topic is Integrity which means doing the right thing when no one is looking. An example of integrity is if you break something own up to your mistake so that the problem wont get worst. I have learnt to use integrity in a role play. I did the right thing when no one was looking. I found doing the role play was interesting because everyone in my group showed honesty and Integrity. Honesty and Integrity are 2 very important qualities because they make you feel good about yourself and they will help you be a better person.

Main Ideas DLO- Reading, Rangitoto reading group
In reading Sakina, Miiana, Avalon, Chavda and I have been collaborating in a group of 5 to create a main ideas DLO based on the space race story that we read last week.
As a group we ri read the article to find out the main ideas of this story. Our task was to find all the important ideas in the article. Together as a group in this DLO we combined all our ideas into 3 columns. We put all of the important Ideas into the first column then we chose 4 main ideas to put into the second column which was 4 very important ideas about the article. The last column we chose 3 out of the 4 most vital ideas about the story.
