Rhythm Interactives visit to PBS

Today PBS got a visit from Johnny a musician who plays the Djembe a special type of African drum. Our visit from Johnny was amazing because everyone got the chance of  drumming,LS2 got to help the younger students how to play the drums and how to get the right beat. Our theme that  we learnt in drumming was (Together we can make a change).  In drumming we listened and followed a rhythm. We also learnt that if you say it you can drum it. I enjoyed the drumming because the drums gave a nice beat and I got the oppitunity to learn about the different types of drums and just to learn some of the beats and rhythms that we did in drumming.  Everyone was  having fun doing the drumming and experiencing about the beats and patterns.Rhythm Interactive

Ballet with Chloe

In the middle block LS2 did their first session of Ballet with Chloe from (RNZB) Royal New Zealand Ballet. In this session we learnt the different movements that ballet has to offer. These movements are based on 'Black Swan, White Swan' that is featured in the famous Ballet 'Swan Lake'. Black swan, white swan is a famous show that is performed all over the World. In this session of Ballet we combined some of the movements that we learnt into a collaborative pose. The music that was used in our session was classical instrumental music that is written by Tchaikovsky.
This gave detail to the movements to give it a theme of the movements that swan lake performs.

A huge thanks to Chloe for teaching us the movements of Ballet and for taking the oppitunity to take this session with us, A big thanks to Mrs Jones for prepping this awesome lesson for LS2.

Literary Devices- Summarizing the Main idea about Waltzing Matilda

In reading Eyaka and I Unpacked the Literary Devices and the Language of Australia's most famous poem, Waltzing Matilda written by Banjo Paterson. In this task Eyaka and I worked collaboratively together to define what the Main Idea of the poem is about and to summarize the main idea of the text. This poem is about a Swagman who wants to Apply himself for a Job instead he stole a Jumbuck from the billabong where he escaped from the troopers and sprang into the billabong which is a shade underneath the billabong.

Collaborative writing task

I am writing to let you know that being a cartoon character is different than being a million year old police officer. It is crazy to think that women at the age of a million can think that way. But many have their own imagination. I think that your more than just a cartoon character your you and nobody can ever change who you are including yourself.

In Writing Haylee and I worked collaboratively together to create a share ideas about our task. Our task was to collaboratively write a postcard to a million year old police officer who thinks shes a cartoon character. At first we shared our ideas using notes that we wrote down to help us create our postcard. In this task we did 5 minutes of planning, 10 minutes of collaborative planning our story, 30 minutes to collaboratively write our story, 10 minutes reading our postcard out loud, 10 minutes to finish writing and 10 minutes of drafting our work.

Tech- Blogposts

Today in Tech the Yr 8B started doing their cooking Tech worksheets  with Mrs Alice. In this worksheet we filled out 5 sheets with important/safety boundaries. These safety rules included the dangerous things that kids might do in a kitchen. For example the oven is turned on and is open if a toddler does something dangerous like burning themselves or even leaving something in the oven and blows up then thats a dangerous way of life and safety. So when a kid or toddler is in the kitchen take caution of them means to avoid children from getting hurt. Also these sheets showed the different types of equipment and the movement that are used to create the food. The other pages include word findings of different vegetables and pizzas that we needed to find.

Gymnastics- Comparing 2 movements

In this Comparison compare my photo from Gymnastics to another persons movement. I compare 2 of these photos and explain the different movements about each photo. For example My legs are in a lower position and the other persons legs are in a higher/ straight position. I explain about each of the movement we did, The movement in my picture I am learning how to jump on the wall use only my legs and in the other image the person is doing a hand stand which is 2 completely different movements. I chose to do this picture because It looked closer to the movement I was doing.

Neil Armstrong infographic

T- Neil Armstrong

I-Hello today we will be explaining about  the first man on the moon. Neil Armstrong was born in Ohio   and is the oldest of the 3 brothers in his family. Neil wanted to become a pilot from the moment he saw a airplane. He built his own model planes and did experiments on them. Neil took his first flying license when he was 14.

P- Neil loved learning about planes but he also enjoyed learning about space. He would always wonder what was upon the Stars when he was in college of War started he was called to be a fighter Pilot. He completed 78 missions during the war. After the war and after finishing College he became he became a test pilot whose job was to test new planes to make sure that they they are safe to fly and help them make it better.

He had the courage To test over 20 new planes. He set a world record for flying one of the fastest planes in the world.  Neil loved planes and space so he decided to become an astronaut who flies to space. While Neil was a Astronaut America was planning their first flight to space. Neil was picked to fly the spaceship to the moon. Neil Armstrong was the first American Astronaut to step on moon.

S-Neil Armstrong was the first American Astronaut to land on moon. Neil was born and raised in Ohio- United states and  is the oldest brother in his family. He was very interested in planes and space. He got his flying license when he was 14. He was fighter pilot, test pilot, astronaut and the first person to land/step on moon.

In Writing this week Nidhi and I have created a collaborative information report based on the first man stepping on the moon. We recorded all the information by using a resource video to help us brainstorm all of our ideas. The information report is based on American Astronaut Neil Armstrong who took the chance at becoming a Astronaut.
A fact that we learnt was that Neil Armstrong got his first flying license when he was 14. At first to get all the ideas down we recorded all the important facts down on notes. The structure that we used was TIPS which stands for Title, Introduction, Paragraphs and Summary.

Care Awards- Research a New Zealander who has shown excellence and Innovation in their lives

To earn my Excellence and Innovation care badge I created a DLO explaining about a New Zealand who has shown excellence and innovation in their lives. I chose to research about Lorde who is a famous international New Zealand songwriter. The reason why I chose to research about Lorde is because that she has used her inspiration to expire others. A fact about lord is that she started at the age of 13 when she was assigned to Universal music group and started writing music. The fact I learnt about Lorde is that her real name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich O'conour

LS1- LS2 blog commenting

For Blog Commenting  LS2 and LS1 were commenting on each others blog posts. Our task was to comment on 3 blog posts either from LS1 or LS2. I chose to comment on Fau, Vayan and Chris's blog. Each of the blogs that commented on were outstanding  the fact that I learnt from these blog posts is that Fau is showing others what her book is all about and she is explaining/Summarizing about what is the title of the book, who is the author that wrote the book and something interesting that she has learnt.
In Vayans blog posts he explains about the different rotations that LS1 had in Gymnastics. He also talks about the different activities that he did in the rotations.  What I learnt from his blog posts is that he was taking risks and being confident to give the activities a try. The last blogpost that I commented on was Chris. He showed an amazing effort in maths because he was learning about the different (capacities of how much a an object can hold and he was also learning about the measurements and sizes of the object.)
